Speaker Bio
Nikolai Butki, DO, MPH, received his Masters in Public Health degree specializing in Maternal and Child Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago before attending medical school at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a family medicine internship then an emergency medicine residency where he served as Chief Resident. He served as core faculty then associate residency program director for the emergency medicine residency at McLaren Oakland in Pontiac, MI. In 2018 he became the residency program director where he currently serves. Dr. Butki also holds an associate professor position at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine where he teaches cross-curricular in courses spanning the first, second, third and fourth year of medical school. He has won numerous awards including a 5-time recipient of the MSUCOM-DMC Campus Certificate of Excellence in Teaching, two-time recipient of the McLaren Oakland Instructor of the Year Award, the McLaren Oakland Michael J. Fugle Distinguished Service Award for Commitment to Osteopathic Graduate Medical Education, the national ACOEP Benjamin A. Field, DO Mentor of the Year Award and the Michigan College of Emergency Physicians/Emergency Medicine Resident Association of Michigan Teacher of the Year Award.
