Free CME Opportunity

The University of Michigan Injury Prevention Center is excited to launch the nation’s most comprehensive online course for pediatric injury prevention: Injury Prevention for Children & Teens. Injuries, such as motor vehicle crash, youth violence, and suicide, are the leading cause of child and adolescent death; however, almost ALL of these injuries CAN BE PREVENTED through widespread application of evidence-based practices and policies.

You’re invited to join in this new learning opportunity for successful injury prevention in children and teens, including Advocacy at both the local and national level. Click here to register.

As a learner, you will have the ability to select all modules or individual topics that interest you most. The course can be followed in a linear or non-linear structure according to your preferred viewing order. Within the Course Map are suggested color-coded pathways and module topics, based on different learner perspectives.

Across 8 modules, you will gain new skills to improve clinical practice, support families and their communities, and learn detailed strategies and techniques to apply in advocating for policy change at a local to national level. Individuals may progress through this self-paced course to advance their current knowledge or earn certification for completing content and assessments in one or more of the modules.

Learn how to translate concepts in pediatric injury prevention to specific strategies for preventing injury in these areas:

  • Epidemiology, Surveillance, Risk and Protective Factors, Theory for Child and Adolescent Injuries
  • Intentional injury in Bullying, Dating Violence, Sexual Violence, Firearm Safety, and Suicide
  • Unintentional injury in Teen Driving, Child Passenger Safety, Burns, and Sports Concussion
  • The Opioid Epidemic and Adolescent Substance Use
  • Use of Advocacy in injury prevention
